  Sub-Programme « Reproductive Health » :


Sub-Programme goal Component project : Project output :
To have contributed to improve reproductive health of the Gambians  Integrated Reproductive Health
  1. awareness on reproductive health/sexual health/family planning strengthened and increased 
  2. access to and availability of quality Reproductive Health Services improved 
  3. identification and appropriate management of high risk pregnancies improved.
Adolescent Health
  1. awareness on adolescent health strengthened and increased 
  2. access and availability of quality adolescent health services improved 
  3. mortality and morbidity from adolescent pregnancies reduced

Sub-Programme  «Population and Development Strategies » :

Sub-Programme goal Component project : Project output :
To adopt and implement appropriate policies , plans and strategies for better management of population and economic growth in the context of sustainable development Population policy
  1. coordination, monitoring and evaluation of population programme enhanced 
  2. integration of population variables in development planning improved 
  3. institutional and individual capacities for population planning and management increased at the national and divisional levels
Population/Family Life Education (POP/FLE)
  1. POP/FLE programme institutionalised and expanded in formal school system and tertiary institutions countrywide 
  2. POP/FLE introduced in the educational activities of 20 madrassah institutions (islamic/arabic schools) 
  3. POP/FLE integrated into existing skill/vocational centres and non formal literacy programmes 
  4. training modules on Population and Development and Reproductive Health integrated in existing tertiary level institutions.
Gender
  1. availability and dissemination of information on women’s status improved
  2. women’s participation in decision making and management of population programme enhanced 
Reasearch
  1. research activities and findings are coordinated and harmonised
  2. timely and reliable information on demography and health collected and disseminated

Sub-Programme « Advocacy » :

Sub-Programme goal Component project : Project output :
To contribute to enhance understanding, at all levels, on population and development issues, as well as to bring about positive change in behaviour and attitude to reproductive health, family health, traditional practices, girls education, participation of women in decision-making and violence against women. Advocacy
  1. an enabling environment created for the review and reform of laws and mesures for the attainment of the National Population Policy 
  2. the necessary environment for the mobilization of more resources created 
  3. a national IEC/advocacy strategy established and the institutional base for coordination enhanced 
  4. the creation of a conducive environment for the removal of constraints to the improvement of the status of youths contributed to 
  5. activities to complement other advocacy activities directed at the elimination of harmful traditional practices and the promotion or Reproductive Health/Sexual Health/Family Planning and Gender issues intensified
